Wild Almond Tree

Walking by the wild almond tree

Looking up to read its secrets

Amidst the bright green leaves

The spreading branches

The numerous nest homes

I felt a strong presence

A support system

Where many lives came and went

One life that stood

As if for eternity

Watching and waiting…

“For what?,”

I left wondering

With a quiet sigh and smile…

Note: this beautiful tree stands at All India Radio, Chennai, along the Bay of Bengal.

A Beautiful Red Eye

We hear so much

About “The bird’s eye view”

Hey birdie

What does the world

Seem to be

Through your eye?

Perched at that height

Vulnerable… yet free?

Does instinct let

You see

Only food and nest and mate?

Or do you also think

Thoughts and dreams, great?

And feel emotions

That won’t abate?

A Small Presence

A rose

Strikes a pose

I stop mid-stride

Absorbing the loveliness, bonafide

A small presence

Making a big difference

In the dreary surrounding

Standing as a blessing

Oh beholder, take care

To see benevolences that stare!

A bouquet

A bouquet on my table

Who can give it a label

Brought from the garden

Nature is the warden

Like a coy smile

That’d beguile

Stands without guilt

Until it must wilt…

Note: some people are like these flowers. They live gently and beautifully and leave quietly. My brother.

Take Care of Nature

20180323_114225

Nature has many moods

It rains when it cries

Shines when it smiles

Storms when it rages

And erupts when furious

Quakes when it’s repulsed

Thunders when it argues

Snows when it’s aloof

And breezes when content

It dries up when helpless

And floods when baffled

If we keep nature in a good mood

We can enjoy rest, air, water, and food

Else nature has forceful ways

To decimate all without trace…
