Fresh Fern Frond and an Info Snippet

This fresh fern frond (well, that’s a bit of a tongue twister!) attracted my attention as I walked past it. And I vaguely remembered my biology lessons from high school about the spots on the underside of their leaves being seeds.

So, I took a few photos and when I looked it up on Google, it said these are called ‘fruit dots’ that hold the fern’s reproductive material. In flowering plants, flowers act as receptacles and produce seeds. In the non-flowering ferns, the leaves themselves double up as flowers. So, there is our bit of science.
